Covered in this blog will be a short round trip through parts of Northwest Indiana along with some other sites.  Included will be plenty of pictures as well as descriptions of those places geological history.  Also included you may occasionally find some neat facts regarding cultural or physical developmental history or other stuff that is just plain neat to know.

The basis, the road trip, covered a decent distance and a surprisingly large number of geological features.  Starting at the Thornton Quarry and heading east into Indiana we took Indianapolis Blvd south from about 165th ave to Rt. 10 passing over all 3 ancient Lake Michigan shorelines and both major end moraines and on into the glacial outwash plain.  We visited the Kankakee River at 4 different locations as well as several flood plains/Fish and Wildlife areas maintained by the State's Fish and Wildlife division.  I may also include some photos and info from some other locations around Indiana that I've been in the past if it seems applicable and beneficial.  Heading north we watched the terrain become more hilly the further north we went.  In Hobart we visited a large erratic near the shores of Lake George.

We found many other cool sites and info along the way, just read on to find out!
